Malaysia proudly served as the host for the esteemed 38th Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Congress (APAO 2023) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 23 to 26 February 2023. This significant conference, marking Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau's (MyCEB) first event of the year, stood as the largest and most prestigious gathering in the Asia Pacific region for ophthalmology professionals.

 

MyCEB, an agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, collaborated with the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmologist (MSO) to seize the opportunity to promote advancements in ophthalmology throughout the region. Among the distinguished participants in this prestigious event was Johnson & Johnson, the renowned American multinational corporation that specializes in the development of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and consumer packaged goods. Their involvement further exemplifies their commitment to advancing the field of ophthalmology and their dedication to the conference's mission.

With a remarkable turnout of 4,500 attendees, including 3,800 international delegates, the four-day congress provided a platform for top eye doctors from around the globe to convene and share their expertise. The event facilitated the exchange of new concepts, cutting-edge technologies, and the latest treatments in ophthalmology, while also addressing the specific eye diseases prevalent in Asia and Malaysia. The presence of Johnson & Johnson and other industry leaders contributed to the congress's success, ensuring that groundbreaking ideas and advancements were shared among professionals in the field.
